The essence of a private space is often determined by its users. Meanwhile, the designer’s role is one of interpreter, to create a space which coincides with a certain lifestyle through the use of various materials. For example, the owner of the Chiang Home in Taoyuan has an orderly yet distinctive personality. As a devout Buddhist, he is generous, open-minded, and self-restrained. Therefore, we elected to create a balanced and elegant three-dimensional space within his home. Attention is engaged using distinct color palettes and vertical and horizontal lines. Furthermore, dark South American wenge wood, textured Thai silk, and teak floors with contrasting titanium borders all combine to portray a quiet, graceful character.
