After their retirement, the couple, following their initial communication with the Open Design team, entrusted the entire design plan for the 39-square-meter, 40-year-old rooftop to them. They promptly went abroad, relying on email communication to discuss project progress and confirm relevant details.
The unwavering trust of the homeowners stems from the design concept inspired by a lakeside picnic painting, incorporating life details with the theme of creating the “most comfortable life for two.” The aim is for the couple to experience joy and harmony after the design.
The design integration begins with defining the areas. Door frames between the living room and study, living room and dining room, living room and master bedroom, and dining room and kitchen were eliminated. Material usage created a continuous, extended visual fermentation. Through the integration of movement lines, the space becomes open and smooth.
To eliminate the oppressive feeling from structural beams, the ceiling avoids excessive lines or decorations. Instead, a multi-layered design is employed, making the height differences more apparent. Through visual perception, the atmosphere and imagery of the space are sculpted.
